Open up command prompt, and type "ping yahoo.com" if it comes back with a reply, you have a connection to the internet, so check your proxy settings in your browser. Also check and make sure your router has a network connection itself to the modem. If not, try restarting both the modem and the router.
If you have more problems, feel free to contact me and I will help you further.

Could be a number of things:
1. Proxy settings. Go to Internet Explorer, Tools, Internet Options, Connections and LAN Settings and uncheck use proxy server.
2. If it is a new router make sure the IP address scheme is different from the Internet router. For example, the new router could be 192.168.1.1 and your Internet router is 192.168.1.254. If you notice that the first three sets of numbers match and so they are the same network making it impossible to route. Set the wireless router to 192.168.3.1, set the DHCP scope to 192.168.3.10 - 192.168.3.100.
3. Disable any firewalls you have and test to see if the Internet comes up. If it does, then you'll need to possibly add Internet explorer as being allowed to the Internet or you'll need to add the wireless connection to the firewall trusted.

If it is a DNS error then it means that your DNS server information is not set properly and your computer is unable to resolve host names into their corresponding IP address.
To resolve this, go to Start-> My Network Places->(on the left hand side look for View My Connections). Click on it and look for your wireless icon. Right click on it, select properties, select Internet Protocol(TCP/IP) and click on properties. The radio button that says Get DNS information automatically should be checked. If it is already checked, call your ISP and get the DNS server IP and check the second button and enter the IP addresses that give you in the respective boxes. Restart your wireless connection and it should work.

two things you need to check...1) your wireless wep key has been entered so you can connect to your hub,for instance i use a bt home hub and you can connect using the wireless connection manager but if you havent got this go to control panel and then wireless network set up.this will take you through connecting to a wireless network and will ask you for your wep key at some stage, this is what stops anyone else from using your wireless connection and stealing bandwidth
2)also you need to make sure you dont have more than 1 connection manager,so if your wireless device comes with a connection manager then its best not to install all the software for it,to install the wireless device just leave the driver cd idle in the dvd rom drive and then run add hardware wizard, this will install the wireless device by just taking what data it needs from the cd and not installing the whole disk, this method can be used for printers, scanners, camers, ect,it just saves disk space and unnessecary data being put on your hard drive
so in full...check your wireless wep key is correct ,then run network setup wizard...then you should be on line...however if you are using a bt home hub the connection manager is excellent
any probs let me know
good luck

Did it use to work?
If so, try one of these three things:
1) Try "Repair connection" on the wireless menu
2) Reboot the router (unplug it and plug it back in)
3) Reboot your laptop.
If it never worked, then it's a configuration issue.
