Anyone know why we continue to gain even more technology here in the U.S. but in other nations in the east where supposedly all the extremely intelligent people are, they're just now inventing things we had fifty years ago?

Depends on the parts of east. Because some of those countries are really poor so is hard to multiply the technology when you don't have money. However if you go in Romania , let me tell you, they have cell phones that i never seen in my life in USA. And i mean the phones are really cool and gain much more performance than others. But still for other parts is happening because of economy.
