I've been planning to trip around europe in january using a europass and I would like to know what the easiest and shortest way to get @ Athens from Bari, Italy.

I've been planning to trip around europe in january using a europass ticket ( so, by train or ferry) and I would like to know what the easiest and shortest way to get @ Athens from Bari, Italy.

The shortest way to trip from Bari to Athens is...To get on board from Bari to Igoumenitsa (which is like 8-9 hours I think) and then use the public bus service to reach Athens (approximately 7 hours trip) or to get on board on a superfast ferry and go to Patras (more hours than sailing to Igoumenitsa)and then get the train to Athens (approx 2-3 hours) I suppose the superfast ferry ticket must be around 50 euros without a vehicle..
p.s. The closest port to Greece is Brindisi but I don't know which is the exact distance between Brindisi and Bari

I should think itd be dirt simple. Both are practically paralell aren't they? ( I'm thinking by plane. ) You'd probably have to locate the airport closest to Bari. You're coastal, right? North/Central Italy? Athens is about the same. Maybe a little further south.

Well, you can enjoy the ferry to some Greek port and from there by bus to Athens! Thus you will experience the cities, way to Athens, etc. Of course it depends on the time available and your will!

1 hour flight verses a 10 to 15 hour ferryride or longer

check out the Alitalia site cause they have direct flights to athens.
