My son (18 months) was just diagnosed with allergies and asthma. He's also had RSV. We are on a daily allergy medicine and breathing treatments 2x a day. I am just wondering if there are any other things I should/should not be doing inside the house to make the air cleaner for him. We live in a brand new home, have a top of the line a/c system with CleanEffects Air Cleaner, and I am just wondering if there is anything else I should do.

Thanks

Try not to have alot of stuff animals around his room since those are really dust collectors and dust is horrible for asthma. Try not to use the deodorizing sprays when he is in the room and other cleaning detergents. Cats and furry animals they say are not good either. I have a nephew with asthma and for the most part we have done all these things and he has been doing quite well. Smoke of course is number one for asthma so NO SMOKING which I am sure you already know but just a quick reminder. Hope this was of some help.

I have asthma but am a much older person I bought a product called Air Source Air Purification System . It is the only system I know of that addresses all 3 indoor air quality concerns

1. Odors and Gases
2. Microbes
3. Particles

I know since I have it in my home I have been able to breathe alot better.

My brother is an asthmatic and after ten years his asthma has shown no sign of improving. He has been to several doctors but they didn't help much.

If you want a proven, all-natural way to cure your asthma, without having to pay for useless medications with harmful side-effects, then this is the most important page you'll ever read.

I read a very informative newsletter recently on this subject. It makes a number of very helpful suggestions, too numerous to list here, but if you allow email I can copy you the article.

Among the suggestions are the following:

"Lifestyle changes can relieve allergies. While allergic reactions are a complex medical problem, just a few simple lifestyle changes can make an enormous difference for you, as it has for many others...Banish allergens from your home/office. While it seems too simple, frequent, very thorough vacuuming of your home, carpets, mattresses will remove a major contributor to your allergies. But plan to spend more time at the task. Allergy magazine recommends 3+ minutes per square foot! Freshen the air and carpet while vacuuming by adding several drops of Lavender, Lemon or Purification [blend produced by Young Living] essential oil to your vacuum filter (paper or water.)

Next, destroy the dust mites in your bedroom with essential oils. When changing linens vacuum your mattress, then wipe it down with a few drops of essential oil on a tissue. Then wash your sheets with liquid laundry detergent to which you've added 25 drops of eucalyptus essential oil...Hypoallergenic mattress and pillow covers will also help, as will keeping pets out of your bedroom and using HEPA filters...."

The article goes on.

Also, I, personally, have had much success using therapeutic-grade eucalyptus radiata essential oil to ease allergy symptoms. I suffered with severe allergies and asthma as a child and now only occasionally suffer with allergy symptoms when I've eaten poorly or when my immune system is otherwise compromised by stress or whatnot. For an infant, you drop 1 drop in the palm of your hand, then rub your hands together until the oil has absorbed into your skin and place your hand loosely over the child's mouth and nose letting them breathe deeply. You can also use a cold-air diffuser to get the oil into the air of an entire room.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that, if you choose to use essential oils, you ensure they are of therapeutic-grade. Oils sold at pharmacies and most health food stores as well are of inferior quality and may be toxic in some instances. But please allow email so I can send you the rest of the article.

The first answer was excellent; however I have something else to contribute. Avoid foods that contain yellow # 5. It is known to cause asthma in some people. I know it does for my daughter.

There is a product out called Genesis. It is a juice that contains natural ingredients like Resveratrol, Ellagic Acid, and much more. My sister uses it daily and she loves it. It does a lot for her including helping with her lung fuctions. It helps her control her asthma. Find more on it here.

If you have not done so yet, I strongly suggest that you switch all your cleaning and lawndry products to the all-natural, non-toxic Get Clean products.

If you are interested in the manufacturer, feel free to contact me.

avoid drinking milk, which causes mucus. Avoid animals and other things that might irritate you. And have him drink a lot of water
