Oh, let's see...historically, can't go wrong with the Brontes...Wuthering Heights, Jane Eyre, Agnes Grey...Rebecca...is all right. Pride and Prejudice is a must. Austen in general...hmm...a bit more modern, most of Meg Cabot's books--not really her young adult fiction as much, except maybe The Mediator for a good laugh. The Boy Next Door, Boy Meets Girl, and Every Boy's Got One are all very amusing.

Also, the Thursday Next novels by Jasper Fforde--beginning with The Eyre Affair--are less of a romance, but still very good.

And while I'm at it--The Measure of A Lady by Deanne Gist

Great author baby doll, I hope you have read more of her work, it is all good. When it comes to historical I have to say my all time fav. is Joanna lindsey, check out her mallory series, not only will it melt your heart and make you go "Awww" but it has a few laughs in there as well. now when it comes to modern , I have to say my fav. is the anita blake serious...it isn't exactly romance, but it's got it's hunks too. If you are into Paranormal/action/romance, it's the series for you. start at the book
"Guilty pleasures" it is the first book in the series and a bit on the smaller side. a good test run of a book to see if you like it and would be interested in going through the whole series since there is so there are so many in the series. Happy reading ^.^

If you want a good cry, read Nicholas Sparks but if you want something a little more uplifting try Nora Roberts. A Bride Most Begrudging is a really good one that is on the bestseller list right now. It is an historical romance but it has a good story to it and it has mildly humorous parts. :) I could name a million because I've read most of them but that is just the few I could think of. If you want me to do more intense research just let me know.

Its not filed under romance and you have to look deep to see it but The Circle Trilogy has the most amazing romance.

Second only, in my opinion, to the Bible.

Archangel by Sharon Shinn. It does have a little fantasy, science fiction type stuff, but it is exquisitely written and very romantic. I love stories where the two characters supposedly destined for each other can't stand each other. At first, that is.
