My transmission revved up to 6 switching from 2nd to 3rd ... then died completely ... I don't even have reverse ... could that be a censor or am I going to have to replace my whole transmission?

I had the same thing happen and at first the guys at the car shop thought it could be repaired but after running a diagnostic test they discovered the whole thing had to be replaced. I hope not in your case.

Transmissions don't rev...engines do. Do you have a manual transmission? If not, how do you know it was changing gears.

I assume you have a manual from the way you are describing the problem.
But you need to give way more details.
Does the car start?
What does it do?
Etc.

make sure you have transmission fluid,if you do your transmission,is gone time to replace it SORRY FOR THE BAD NEWS!
