Does anyone know of any classes or programs for plus sized girls that want an acting career?

I love the stage, but don't have a "star status" body. I've been dieting and exercising, but I was just wondering if there is a chance for the big gals out there.

There is definitely a chance! Some of the most talented actresses I know and have worked with are plus-sized. You don't need special classes. Just take as many classes as you can (FYI: Don't use John Robert Powers) and get as much experience as possible.

Of course there is. Just keep taking acting classes and audition, audition, audition. There are roles for people of all ages, shapes and sizes. Just know that as a plus size actor, you're apt to get "character roles" and not the starring roles, but they're more fun to play anyway.

sometimes girls who are "plus" sized don't get the good roles.
I have that problem too. I am a size 10 and the people I auditioned for didn't let me have the part because I was bigger than the costume. So don't let size be an issue. Let the talent be the cause.

I'm not so sure about younger girls, but I am working on a national show and they ask that all the cast members be at least size 14. Nation wide there are 320 cast members.

No matter your size, anyone can take acting classes. Find an acting school and enroll. It would be discrimination to have a school for plus-size persons.

of course. you'll probably be cast as either the chubby little sister or best friend if you're young, or the mom if you're older.but who knows, the only way to find out is to try.
