i have three baby sliders.
yes they can live in an aquarium...but it has to be HUGE!
in the aquarium they need;
-a land rock (to dry their shells out with...if not they can die of soft shell)
-a light with a repto bulb above the rock (for 'sun' bathing)
-a filter
-gravel
-and ---IF NEEDED--- a heater
------------------------------
yes, they will mate, but not until they are 2-4 years old. as that is when they reach sexual maturity.
after they mate the female will bury down in the ground and lay her eggs.
-------------------------------
if you are planning on getting one, i will worn you now; THE STINK IF THE CAGE IS NOT CLEANED OFTEN!

good luck

They mate in the water, but have to lay eggs in a nest on the land. If the eggs are laid in the water, they will be infertile.

If you want your Sliders to breed, make sure you have solid ground for them :)
Females dig in the ground to deposit eggs; egg amount depends on the size of the mother. It takes three months for eggs to hatch.

I'm not sure how actually breeding works, but if the male and female are compatible, I'm sure they will...
