I am planning on buying a friend the Derek and the Dominoes cd "Layla and other Assorted Love Songs". What other cd should I buy them, considering the first choice as their choice of music. Oh, and don't say Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, I love them, but they are more into Southern Rock, Clapton, Skynyrd, that kind of stuff. Ideas?

The Grateful Dead - American Beauty
The Band - The Band

The Band actually inspired Clapton to leave Cream, due to the direction Cream was going and Clapton's affinity to southern rock and blues

The mother of all southern rock albums - Allman Brothers - Eat a Peach

If they have that, look for The James Gang - Rides Again - from 1970

Tom Petty is great, I'm listening to him right now. Also Neil Young is good, maybe some Cat Stevens, ZZ Top. So many good choices out there.

If they like Clapton, maybe try some BB King. "Live at the Cook County Jail" is a pretty awesome album by him.
