I was anemic, and my doctor recommended taking Ferrograd C. It is a combination of iron and vitamin C (iron is meant to be absorbed better when taken with vitamin C). I have been on many iron supplements over the years (including liquid iron - yuck!), and Ferrograd is the only thing that put my iron into 'normal' levels. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about it.

Anemia is a lack of iron. Most quality multi-vitamins have the full daily nutritional requirements or you could just take an iron supplement. If your doctor diagnosed you as anemic you should probably take whatever he suggested/prescribed.

So am i and i found B12 is the best thing that helped me.... but you have to get it given to you by the doctors as a needle.... just because most anemic people have a hard time absorbing vitamins period.

Take iron, but only if you need it. It's better to take in iron from foods like beets. Below is a link to a site that lists good sources of iron.

talk to your dr about it. he/she will probably start you on iron but he/she will need to determine the dosage. plus he might start you on a mild laxative because iron tens to cause people to develop constipation. it also depends on what type of anemia, the most common is iron deficiant. but there are other types as well, that would be another good question to ask.

keep the iron away from little kids it poisons them.
