I work for child support and hear this everyday. Unfortuntly the law is what needs changing. Yes some mothers are letting the state take care of their kids. And yes Some should work to be independent and not need the support just to survive. I get plenty of calls like that as well of folks who depend too much on the support.
But there are plent yof mothers working their tails off and getting undersupport . I mean low child support payments. They do need the money and tey bust their tails.
To the ones who refused to work, well lets say those days are ending soon and I'll leave it at that.
But there are WWAAAYYYY more working and barely susviving

Child support is figured on income of both parents. Both parents have responsibility for the child. If you're tired of hearing about dead-beat dads then help the women who are owed child-support to recover what is rightfully owed to the children.

Do you really think that women are raising children on child support alone? Can you live on only $425 a month? That's what I get from my ex-husband who makes about $4,000 a month.

I am one of those disabled people you're talking about and yet I do work, go to school and yes, I collect disability through the military.

My ex rarely visits with the children and when he does spends very little money on them---usually just whatever it takes to feed them while they are with him. He offers very little emotional support and although he pays his child support, he pays it when ever he feels like paying it and not on the 1st of every month like he's supposed to.

Women with children to raise aren't living the high life and we're certainly not living any better because some sperm donor pays us a little money each month.

The problem is that The system takes the drivers lic. and tosses the men in jail. If he does not pay the child support. Then the women goes out and parties and expects the guy to bring home the money. Today the system is all screwed up as well as the dating seen.. That's why I stay single and I have my children . I do not look for the child support. I do it on my own and love it..

You are tired of hearing about dead beat dads... have you ever had the personal experience of being on the other end of it? I don't believe a child should be deprived of one parents financial obligations because of the other's employment status. A child is not a pawn in a financial game. Maybe the question should be whether either deadbeat should be breeding at all...

I believe that husbands AND wives are responsible for providing for their children... even when the marriage ends.

No spouse should be homeless due to support of their children. There are laws in place to address the maximum that a parent has to pay for child support.

Where it gets funky is when alimony is also present. A spouse can as for, and get, the moon it seems.

ABSOLUTELY! I agree with you 100%! I'm a female who also thinks this is a great opinion! Why should the mother figure get to sit around and take advantage of the child support checks while the father is out there busting his *** trying to make the money? I mean, after all, the money is for the CHILD..not the worthless mother who uses all of the child's support check to pay her bills and buy her new clothes.

That's just my take on it.

Gee, I pay $1k/month for one child. Ex gets another $500/month for one she had out of wedlock before we ever met.

She gets $1500/month in CS, that's 50% of her income.

She works too, and still doesn't have any money.

Frankly, $1000/month to get her off the checking account and credit cards is a bargain.

But I doubt she uses all that money for the children, she like her stuff too much.

I think this area is sooo bizzare.

I have custody of my 2 boys who are now 19 and 21, my ex is supposed to pay 70 a month for each and has only paid about 900 total (because they took her tax refund).

Now I work construction and all of my male friends have to pay about 400-700 dollars a month, I know a cop who has to pay 800 for 2 boys, I know a truck driver who has to pay 600 a month for 1 girl.

I know it is based on income but this is insane.
