Slavery? Population? Commerce? Immigration? Other wars like World War 1, World War 2, Vietnam. Would the CSA and USA be friendly today? Any other thoughts?

Well, I was hoping for more fact based and insightful answers, but I guess I got what I paid for out of the first 5 answers.

I might have to let this go to voting because then I can vote "no best answer".

Hello, kind JohnL. I am an alternate dimension traveller who has intercepted your message because of a problem with my zigamafilch (similar to your "toaster"). I can answer your question because I am living in the storyline you are asking about.

In this dimension, changes began before the civil war, as Abraham Lincoln never became president. He instead became the inventor of the childrens' swing-set w/slide.

I don't have enough space here to describe all the history that led to this different outcome, so will simply answer your questions and hope that I have another chance to contact you sometime.

The South embraced slavery so thoroughly that it became the world's richest economy by 1900, and then experienced a crash so severe most white slave owners committed suicide. The crash was the result of the strike imposed by the slaves who received financial backing from the North, as the South had become so greedy that it was price gouging the North.

The result of this crash was the withering away of the South as it had no workforce, and the dearth of practical skill among whites led all who had capital to leave for the North (and parts of the Carribbean) while many of those who remained killed each other in fist fights.

The world wars still happened because international policies of the North were similar to those in what you now call the USA. Hitler was allowed to do more damage though, because the neighborly North was still busy cleaning up the mess left behind by the South. Pearl Harbor still happened; so the North did become involved in WW2 but the focus on the Japanese was more intense. Hitler was eventually quashed as he was in your reality, but it was a nastier, longer fight and a lot more people suffered.

The properties and territories of the South, for the most part abandoned by 1922, were absorbed by the North in a real estate deal known as the "Alabama Rummage Sale". By decree of the Northern Liberal Humanitarian Association (NLHA) funds from properties were given to all slaves and their decendants - in short: the "40 Acres and a mule" deal was actually carried out but with far greater rewards, though nothing could compensate for the trauma of slavery.

That's all I can tell you today, the "toast" has "popped up".

Sincerely, and channeled by Dr. Obvious - Me

The Confederate States of America and the United States would both be superpowers had that Confederate Army prevailed. They were before the war, except now the CSA would be a thriving nation rich in resources with manageable debt load and guided by ethical and Christian principles. The argument that the nation is now stronger could also be applied to the American Revolution
Without that yakee trash to drag us down to their level! God Bless You and The Southern People.

the CSA would have been dirt poor while the north would have prospered. The wars were inevitable because they were European. The southern issue of slavery would have kept it shunned from Eurpoe.
