I can't believe someone suggest that you stay in Playa del Carmen and take that ferry everyday. If you're a diver, you'd be laughing. That would burn up 3 hours a day in water crossings.
There are a lot of nice hotels and all inclusives on Coz. The best ones being well out of town to the south (better beaches)
I've been to Coz 3 times and have always stayed at http://www.reefclubcozumel.com/ I go primarily for the diving.
It's an all inclusive, has a dive shop and jetty, all the usual stuff for an all inclusive and an added benefit that it's a 5 minute boat ride to the major reefs. You barely have time to gear up. If snorkeling is your thing, you will find barracuda, rays, dolphin and turtles right off the resort's swimming beach. I found the resort staff to be excellent, the layout of the accommodations easy to understand and the grounds, even if you don't have ocean view, to be excellent. Food is good, there's an excellent restaurant that you need reservations for, a disco and as it's a family resort, kids activities and a slew of water sports. There's also horseback riding across the street.
It's about a 12 minute drive to San Miguel.
I'm going back a 4th time, this winter and staying there again.

Cozumel is a relatively small Island accross from Playa del Carmen (south of Cancun). The attractive of this island is its amazing diving, which is rated amongst the top five in the World. The food is great and there is a Park called Chankannab where you can have lots of fun and even swim with teh dolphins. The BEST place to stay is the Presidente InterContinental hotel....about 20 minutes from the airport. This hotel has been renovated and it is absolutely amazing.....I recently satyed there for an amazing rate of $180 per night, which for this hotel is a steal!!!!! Good luck!

Cozumel is great, but I'd probably recommend staying in Playa Del Carmen. "Playa", as the locals call it, is just a short ferry ride away from Cozumel.
Playa is the hottest destination in the Riviera Maya and is filled with restaurants, bars, beach clubs, and more. If you're looking for a boutique hotel, I'd recommend staying at Mosquito Beach, Basico, or Deseo. If you are looking for an all-inclusive, I'd recommend staying at the Royal Hideaway.

If you do decide to stay in Cozumel, I'd stay at the Cozumel Palace - it's the best resort bar on the island!

I LOVE Cozumel! I recommend staying at El Cid La Ceiba. I stayed there (pre-Wilma) and had a BLAST. I spent days snorkling right off the resort. It isn't as big or fancy as others, but it was definitely a great location with great people.

0.5 Moon hotel is excellent - so I pay attention, yet I particularly have by no potential stayed there. The Ritz-Carlton Rose corridor hotel is likewise great. be constructive to get the Keys to Paradise equipment that's the all-inclusive equipment. it quite is in basic terms exterior of Montego Bay.
