Because it's a dark comedy. It's funny, but not in the sense that most are. Take Bad Santa for example, one of my favorite black comedies, the main character (Billy Bob Thornton) is a drunk, a thief, and hates everyone, and the whole movie is centered around him robbing a department store. The subject matter is very dark and there really is no happy ending. This is what black comedies are usually made up of.

A good example of a Black Comedy is M*A*S*H which derives humor from serious situations. E.G. deciding how big a scar to give a patient based on his rank.

Black comedy usually has a black comedian or has a black cast if it is a movie. Next time you ask a question...make it make sense....Black comedy has blacks in it...it is very simple. You should also clarify the "they" in your question.
