Some people will say it is, but if you drink the tap water, then so can your baby 4 month old. You'll get to a point where u stop listening to everyone and start doing what your mommy intuition tell you. I didn't sterilize my water for my son and he just fine and healthy as a baby with sterilize water. It really doesn't matter. As long as your baby is getting the nutrients the little one needs.

I would use tap water because of the minerals that the infant needs that the process of distillization or sterilization takes out (like fluoride). If your tap water is unsafe than there is a great bottled water that you can buy called Nursery Water that only costs about $1.00 (they add the fluoride and other nutrients back into the water).http://www.nurserywater.com/home.html
I personally used tap water for my children because I drink it. But there are places where the tap water isn't considered "safe." This happened in Burkburnett, Tx until they got a new water treatment plant and my daycare had a policy of bringing in our own water...I used the Nursery Water.

No, using sterilized water for formula is not necessary. I used tap water for my baby's formula and everything turned out just fine!

I have three children 7yrs, 3yrs and 5months and for all (except the first two months of the baby's life when I tried to breastfeed, but that is another story) they have just used regular tap water and they all are happy, healthy children. We live in a rural town, but I figure that if I feel comfortable using my tap water for cooking, laundry, bathing and drinking myself it most likely isn't going to hurt the baby to use it in their formula. In my town they test the water I believe twice a year to make sure that it is safe, but I believe that you can also get home water test kits if it would make you feel more comfortable testing it yourself.

With my first child, I was so careful making sure everything was perfect and clean, if I dropped a passi on the floor I sterilized it before giving it back, now with my second, I wipe it off and give it back. Children are going to be exposed to things, you can't keep THEM sterilized. LOL Be careful, though, pay attention to your city's water plan and make sure it is safe, in most cities I would say it is. My child got through it just fine.

I used bottled water until my daughter was 6 mos old. I figure if she's healthy and the water isn't making me sick, It's okay for her. And in a question similar to this a month or so ago, someone mentioned that bottled water plants are inspected less often than public water plants.
It's really up to you, but I have a happy, healthy 8 mos old daughter!!
And she's only had the sniffles once--she caught it from me--I caught it from work.

The use of sterlized water is up to the parents. It is really a matter of personal preference. Some parents choose to use it while other choose not to. I did not use sterilized water for my kids and they turned out just fine. I think it just depends on what you feel the most comfortable with.

I use distilled water on my formula baby. I don't know if it's necessary but it makes me feel better. I wouldn't use tap water, but I'm sure any kind of bottled water is fine.

i became employing bottled water and we've switched to finding out to purchase our water from an section the following on the city that promote the massive jugs. i became boiling faucet water contained in the starting up at the same time as i became supplementing yet we went tenting and hubby took off contained in the van with the water for the toddler nonetheless in it. All I had became bottled water and my guy for the first time ate a bottle of formula like a champ. research for your self what tastes extra powerful - boiled faucet water, boiled bottled water or immediately unboiled version. The bottled water for me wins each and every time. It has to fulfill regulations of safe practices earlier it must be bought so I wasn't anxious there. the effective section became is that if i became out someplace and ran out of water for the bottles i ought to easily pop right into a nook shop and ask them to get me a bottle from storage that hadn't been refrigerated.
