Since ,y mother passed away on Saturday, I've been trying to sort through her things. She had literally tons of clothes and shoes. Some in the attic in boxes and bags and even more in her bedroom. Some piles are up to my shoulder and I'm not exaggerating! It's just too much to try and take to the Salvation army and they don't do pick-ups. It seems a shme to just throw everything in a dumpster as my uncle suggested. HELP!

Purple Heart supports military veterans and their families. In many cases, they will come to your house and pick up donated items. The website above will let you submit contact information to see if they can pick up.

There are 3 main ways...

Using in a public place they will be a large box located on a parking lot were you can place your used clothing items and they send them to the less fortunate who are not able to buy costy clothing items....
No?

Usually there is a second hand store near your area..this place will actually give you money (not allot though) for you used clothes and they will have them on sale will less profited families can buy themm....
No?

Have a Garage sale my mom had a garage sale a couple of years ago and sold all my baby clothes for 50 dollars...its productive and works well...
but remember to put signs out because those who don't get less customers..
No?

Do simple things like give them to a family member or neighbor
EBay? Relatives? There has to be a way that you could dispose...

Two other info bits..
Keep a bit of the articles as a memory of your mother...don't give everything away..

and your uncle is 100% wrong...why throw something out when some child out there would die to have it???

Hope i helped and sorry for the loss

There are many non-profit organizations that can take them. These places will take everything no matter the amount. If they can not use it, they will ship it to near by cities who do not get many donations.

Look up the local Battered Women Shelter (some women leave home without packing anything)
Call local churches (some families do not have anything)
Goodwill & Salvation Army (provide jobs for those who are looking for work)
Poverello House (will give wamer clothes to homeless)

I pray that you will take the time to call and bless others with your mother's belongings. You may bless those who truely need it. I know these places will help, they did for my mother and I. Do not throw them away, and tell your uncle that it is wasteful and selfish of him not to want to help others. Labors of love is what helped my family survive and get into college. I am praying that God will give you peace and joy in this time of grief. You are loved and will be loved by those who recieve your gift. God Bless!

Please allow me to offer my condolences to you. I know that it can’t be easy.

And now, to answer your question:

For starters, you might want to select a few items for yourself. You never know, maybe in a few years you might be able to let them go, but for now, you may be able to get comfort from them.

Secondly, you've been through a lot and people you know, know this. Enlist their help in disposing of her clothes. In exchange for this, they can take what they want. After they've sifted through it all, maybe you should think about taking it all to a charity shop or a homeless shelter.

Another option would be to hold a yard sale and either keep what you reap or donate the proceeds to a local favorite charity in your mother's name. If the amount is high enough and they do this sort of thing, maybe you could arrange to have a plague set up in her name so as to honor her life?

Shoot, maybe that’s what *I* should’ve done with my husband’s old van when he passed away…

Try the St. Vincent DePaul Society (if there is one in your area). They do drives several times during the year and will pick up. Otherwise, you may just have to make a few trips to either the Salvation Army or Goodwill. Goodwill may pick up as well.

in case you're taking them to the British heart beginning and signal a present help kind (doesn't fee you something) then they save a complete of all of your clothing that they promote and enable you to to carry close how a lot your stuff raised. that is continuously effective to carry close and they get better funds for the garments by way of present help. and individuals with heart disease benefit. Or in the journey that they are primary clothing, unlike going out ones you may want to donate them to a homeless preserve? Failing that attempt a automobile boot sale or see if any of your friends needs them. wish they arrive across a sturdy abode. x

Check in the yellow pages to see if there are other shelters in your town that will pick-up. I live in Alabama, and we have Hannah Homes (not sure that is national, though). You can also check with thrift stores in the area.

You can always have a yard sale or put them on Craig's List.
