The real ones have a great ambiance about them...I have had a real tree ever since I could remember...they do have some negative setbacks however, they are messy (the pine needles can get everywhere), you have to water them, and if you don't like the fresh pine evergreen smell then that's not for you. Artificial ones are just not the same tho!!! I would say choose one that makes you happy!!!

Unless you're allergic, go with a real tree. Of course they need watering and they will shed needles, but the smell is divine!

If you use a real tree, don't put it up too early. A week before Christmas is just right, but if you want to be traditional, German Christmas trees (and it was in Germany the tradition started) don't get cut until Christmas eve, so they are *very* fresh for Christmas!

I grew up with an artifical tree in the house and switched to live trees about 8 years ago. Way better, as long as you avoid trees that drop needles all the &*%#@ time. It's the smell...

Artificial. They can be kept forever, plus, a lot of people are allergic to real ones.

i say an artificial one is much easier to maintain... you dont have to take care of it as much as a real tree... but a real tree is ,of course ,the best christmas tree to get... it really depends on you.

we always use the fake one's, cuz i have allergies really bad and my daughter has asthma. they are also less messy and you don't have to worry about watering them. we've had the same one for 3 years now. as long as you take care of them, they can last for a long time
