Truman and he was a democrat. That was a long time ago, before Vietnam. It's interesting how times have changed things. Most conservatives today would be considered left wing fanatics by Turmans standards. Liberals today would seem to be from a different planet all together.

That "spineless coward" was Harry S Truman. If you'd really like to know, he believed that more lives would be saved on both sides by using it. At the time, the Japanese people were being told that Americans were cannibals who would eat their babies. When we reached Okinawa, they were throwing themselves and their children off cliffs rather than being captured. School children were being trained to fight to the death. Truman knew that the Japanese would fight to the last man, and hoped that the bomb would make their leaders realize just how much damage could be done. Even after the bomb was dropped, Japanese generals were still planning to continue to fight, but Emperor Hirohito finally stepped in on behalf of the Japanese people. Also, we had no idea what the long-term effects of radiation would be. So was he truly a "spineless coward" after all? I don't think so.

Harry S Truman Democrat not a coward but a man with vision! He made mince-meat out-ta Republicans like General MacArthur whom love to slave-out Filipinos for his own pleasure. Truman saved thousands of American troops lives with use of the Big bombs he had nothing but Guts and glory!

The plane was the Enola Gay, ordered by H.S. Truman, he was a democrat. Before you criticize the bombing of Japan, remember Pearl Harbor. At least we gave Japan fair warning. They chose to ignore it.

The democrats have already promised NOT to cut funds for the war, and to leave very slowly after a certain amount of time.
There is nothing they can do to make republicans believe them. But we shall see how things progress over time.
