It depends on your babies length. You need to look at the length-to-weight percentiles to make that judgement. A taller baby will weigh more, or at least SHOULD weight more. This is coming from the mother of a 19+ lber at 4 months. The 4 month appt is in 4 days, so we are estimating based on our scale at home. My baby isn't skinny, but in no way is too chunky. He is, however, tall, with a very long torso.

The best thing is to ask your pediatrician. A lot depends on whether your baby was big at birth, and his genes, etc. If your pediatrician is not concerned, then you don't need to be. However, do not fall into the "trap" of thinking that just because it is "cute" it is harmless. Recent studies have shown that continuously overweight babies & toddlers tend to turn into overweight adults with weight-related health problems. Make sure you are not over-feeding your son, and that you are feeding him healthy foods. As he gets older and starts solids and then finger foods, be sure to introduce him to healthy foods (not just french fries etc.) With a healthy diet and his growing activity, especially once he starts walking, his weight gain will reach a slower pace as he gets older.

It depends on his height. If his height is also in the 90th percentile or higher, then I wouldn't worry. If his height percentile is significantly lower, then it may be cause for concern, although a lot of babies do thin out quite a bit once they become more active.

I wouldn't worry about your babies weight right now. My little one was huge and by the time he started going from crawling to the "getting into everything phase", it just came right off. He's soo much slimmer than he use to be. I still miss my little chunky chunky. It'll come off the more active your baby gets, as he gets older, so enjoy those chunky cheeks for as long as possible.

Sounds to me like it would want to be fairly annoying for a figure to save an 18 month previous probability-free and satisfied on a small crusing boat for 4 days. i might want to be continuously afraid that she might want to fall overboard, and is there truly sufficient to save a 18 month previous entertained at the same time as imprisoned on a small boat for 4 days? Sounds better like torture than exciting! i might want to both go away your daughter abode at the same time as you're taking the vacation, or decline the invitation!

While chubby babies may be cute, this is no laughing matter. Being overwight as an infant can increase your child's risk of developing asthma, diabetes, and high blood pressure, (and probably more chronic illnesses such as risk of developing certain cancers as an adult). You should really talk to your pediatrician about ways to manage your baby's weight (diet is obviously absurd at this age) so that he/she is as healthy as possible now and in her future.

My last one has always been in the 90th% and I think it is adorable. How can you not feed your 4mnth old because someone might think he is chubby.
They are healthy that is all that counts, once they start crawling and walking they will lose most of the baby fat.
