Kids keep growing up faster, what is causing this? Its funny because not only do kids seem to be growing up faster, people are staying teenagers in their minds longer. I mean there are 40 year old guys who are gamers for Gods sakes. And most 40+ men are still in the college age mindset. So the range is widening at both ends.

I think Pretty Goth Girl nailed it on the head. Kids are being forced to grow up faster, to deal with a world that they're not ready for. And since they're not ready for it, they spend longer adjusting to being an adult, and clinging to their childhoods.

That and all the bovine growth hormones in the milk these days.

There's nothing wrong with a 40 year old gamer, btw. It's just when they shirk their responsibilities that it's lame. I know lots of "older" gamers who do it as a hobby, not as their lives. They know family, friends and sunshine come before games.

I am an early teenageer so I may not know a lot but I believe it is because they watch things on tv that teenagers do and they really look up to people and want to be cool(but sadly most of the time teenagers don't do the right thing which is uncool). But also because they want to be older and treated differently so they think that if they act older they will get more privledges and etc. The last reason is that 10 is the average age for at least girls the beginnings of adolescence or however you spell it.

I don't see what the thing about the gamers and 40 year olds is about, but anyways, I read the article after you put it on your question and I think that it's society ruining us as young peoples. Pop culture is making kids want to grow up too fast, and it's partically parents faults for not shielding their kids from this, but when they're 20 and acting like they're 10, then they'll realize why it's important to take life one step at a time. And that's just children's nature to copy adults or people older than them, like when I was 8, I was copying everything my older sister did, but we were typical kids, we listened to music but not things that bad and look how we turned out........We're okay, not saying 'yo dad,' yo is the dumbest word ever. It's destroying little people.

Has to do with our society and the complete lack of moral standards. Seems some people have a problem with then, so they got prayer removed from schools, teachers are no longer allow to discipline the children when they are out of control. A lot of parents believe that what ever their child does is okay, and nobody but them should be able to punish them. The problem is, that these parents don't discipline them either. So the kids never learn write from wrong, and just go on doing whatever they want to.

Kids are always in a hurry to grow up, why I have no idea. They are clearly not aware that childhood is the best time of their lives. That being an adult is not rip roaring picnic. Sad, because childhood last such a short time,& we are adult for a very long time. Maybe by 40 they have figured this out & want to find away to go back. Dragging their feet, kick & protesting the fact they don't want to get any older.

10 year olds aren't acting like 15 year olds, they are acting like 10 year olds. I think what you are trying to get at is how the internet is exposing content that is picked up by these children and spread amongst them, and they think they know all there is to know, but they reall don't. And 40 years old isnt that old... its considered mid-life, and I don't see much wrong with 40 year old gamers. Gaming is a hobby, and would you consider a 40 year old reading different? Or perhaps you would consider a teenager reading different.

Maybe the chart makes them feel babied? im sorry but id probably rip the chart of the wall and stomp on it. they arent 6 and they can legally get working papers. 1 dollar doesnt get kids that age much. the other kids, sure but i dont understand why its a big deal that they dont want to do a chart. HOWEVER they should have REQUIRED chores and the dollar should be optional for EXTRA chores :) Good luck

Because they see older kids on the TV doing things. Then they see kids around home and school doing the same thing so they want to be cool and do the same thing. Thats way young kids act older.

As long as they are growing up faster and learning that they should go to college other than drinking and doing drugs then I guess we shouldn't question it.
