I always get good grades and work hard on my classes, but I wonder, is my bachelor degree going to be worth the same as the bachelor degree of a classmate who barely passes his/her classes in the real world? I would think they should, but they probably dont, I dont know. What are your thoughts?

Some employers look for transcripts with grades, others do not. High grades mean that you apply yourself more consistently and effectively. That consistency and effectiveness caries over into the workplace. No employer wants an employee who is happy with the least possible work. Even if they do not check the grades, that work ethic becomes very apparent in the probationary period.

my grades were never questioned or even asked for. the completion of a degree sufficied. However, when I applied to grad school, they mattered SIGNIFICANTLY. also, what field are you in? sometimes, more academic fields will pay closer attention to the gpa of their candidates.

My dad is a professor at a local university, and he has told me that employers often ask permission to check your grades, especially in higher-paying jobs.

If you graduate "c u m laude" or "summa c u m laude" you should definitely put that on your resume. You can always put in your grade point average, too, if you want.

btw, i had to separate the letters in that 3 letter Latin word because YA, in its infinite wisdom wouldn't accept it!
