Right click the yellow folder on your laptop the files are in and choose "sharing and security".
Tick the box beside "share this folder on the network". Give it a sharing name, for example "laptop files", click "apply" and "OK".
On your main PC, click "start" and then "my network places". Click on "Add a network place" and then follow the prompts on the wizard that starts. You will need to type in the computer name (you can find this by right clicking on the My Computer icon on your laptop and choosing "properties") followed by the share name, for example:
My computer is called "marklaptop"
My shared folder, the one I want to transfer files to the desktop from is called "laptopfiles"
So I enter the network place as \\marklaptop\laptopfiles
Then follow the prompts until your network place opens. It is then a simple matter of either dragging or copy/cut and patse.
Remember if you use cut, then the file will move. If you drag or copy, the file will copy itself to the desktop.
\\computer name\share name is the syntax to remember.

If they're both accessing the internet via a router already, and they connect to the same router, then you can already access files from each. You just need to enable file and folder sharing, and choose which files to share.

There is a software utility called Network Magic
You can download it at www.networkmagic.com
The program is loaded on both of your PCs
It will then generate a graphical image (like a 'tree' structure) of your network.
So to share your printer with your laptop, rightclick on the printer icon and click 'share'. Likewise with files - browse to the file or folder to share and click'share'.
It's very good software and is cheap enough.
Takes all the hassle out of networking.

in case you have put in the router utility on the host pc (significant workstation) and the instantaneous is up and dealing unplug the ethernet cable and see if it works. I dont see why it does not as quickly as the router is configured. If the router demands a variety of pc all you will would desire to do is plug the cable back in..

Easy, set up a home network, and drag and drop the files between drives. Window XP has a home network wizard.

For specifics one would need to know the OS (FE..I use linux).
You can use FTP, SFTP, SSP, SMTP.
All work. But not knowing what brand of car you have it's hard to tell you how to change the distributor.
