In some degrees yes. Look at what effect shows like the Simpsons and Family Guy have had on our culture. Compared to Japan, no. Over there a lot is animated: Comedies, Dramas, Action/Adventure, Soap Opera. In North America unless it's funny or "cute", mainstream won't pay attention to it all that much. A cartoon culture is one in which cartoons/animation have a predominent effect on our lives. In Japan, you might talk about the latest episode of Samurai Shampoo or any number of animated shows over a water cooler. One might mention The Simpsons over here, but there aren't too many other animation points of reference that would be used. The media here have done too good a job in convincing adults that "cartoons" are only for kids. Sad really.

I'd say it's more of a soap opera culture. What used to be a speeded up unreality of falling in love, marriage, births and divorces done purposely so on screen is quickly becoming the way people actually live. And scariest of all they seem to think it's ok to be like that because that's how it is on the tv.

Maybe. But it can be any worse than a "reality TV" culture. At least we're not trying to deceive ourselves into believing cartoons are real.

Yes.
People become 'famous' now because they appear on so-called 'reality' TV shows, and then end up in the weekly magazines (Heat, OK, Hello!), boring us all to death with their ignorance.
Chantelle, Callum Best, Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Trinny and Suzannah, Pete Doherty, Jordan, Peter Andre, Paris Hilton, Lionel Richies daughter, Courtney Love, and on and on...
When will it end?
I don't find them amusing.
And as for releasing an 'autobiography' at the age of 20?
Please get them to go away!

Full metal alchemist has culture in it (and some true history to it as well)

Apparently it has never left. Look at Lascaux. Better line quality and economy of color application!
