i.e. leviatation and stuff. Mind tricks are good too. My friend suggested one called catscratch, but i'm not sure what it is.
My second question is: have any of you ever had a bad experience with games like this? You hear all sorts of horror stories about Ouija boards and everything.
So on the one hand I want ideas to play at this party, and on the other hand I want advice so I don't mess with something too dangerous. If you can help on either score, please reply!

Please don't waste my time, loser. Do you know how pathetic it is to answer questions in this fashion just to get the points? You need to see a doctor about your self-esteem.
All my love...

Well you've already gotten the Ouija boards warning, so I'll skip that.
"Light as a feather, stiff as a board" is a good one. With at least three people, have one lay flat on his/her back and the other two (or more) get on either side of them and try to raise them with one finger, chanting, "Light as a feather, stiff as a board." It's really freaky when it works.
The other one I thought of is Bloody Mary, but that can be dangerous if anyone spooks easily. Go into a bathroom, shut off the lights, light a candle if you want it to work REALLY well, and repeat "I believe in Mary Worth" ten times. You're supposed to see a bloody face/axe swinging at your head/etc. Whether or not there's anything there, though, your mind will start to play tricks on you- chances are you WILL see /something./ Bloody Mary is creepy, though; it's one of the few things I'm wary of doing by myself.

Use the Ouija board all you want. Nothing "bad" is going to happen (unless someone flips out and knocks over the aquarium.)
Ouija boards do not "contact the spirit world". They are not "evil". They do not "open a doorway". They do not "summon demons". That's all part of the Ouija board's mythos. It's a self-perpetuating fear that has no basis in real fact.
Ouija boards rely on the imperceptible muscular movements of those touching the planchet -- The thing that indicates letters.
Penn and Teller on their Showtime Show, "Bullsh*t" (with the letter I) fully and soundly debunked Ouija boards.
They had a group of people use a Ouija board normally. The planchet indicated words, apparently answered questions, etc. Nobody claimed to be moving the planchet. All very typical.
They then blindfolded the group and, without telling the group, rotated the Ouija board 180 degrees. The board didn't function as it did when the group was not blindfolded. For example, when a Yes/No question was asked, the planchet indicated the spots that "Yes" or "No" had been before the board was rotated. Neither did any words get accurately spelled out by the planchet.
Obviously, either spirits are completely blind or the Ouija board opperates based on the imperceptible muscular actions of the participants.

I don't think it's possible to call up anything spiritiual, good or evil, using these games. However, while it can all seem like creepy good fun at the time, some people, of a nervous disposition, can be really scared ....and it has an adverse affect on their lives, not wanting to be left alone for months on end, seeing every 'bad' thing that happens to them as being as a result of their playing with the supernatural.... so jhave fun but ...just be careful on who you choose to take part.

STAY AWAY FROM OUIJA BOARDS!!!! They are dangerous!! One time, a friend and myself thought it would be fun to muck around with a ouija board, but the candles started exploding and hot wax went all over us, my friend was badly burnt. Another time, my husband and some of his mates were doing the same thing. In the room there was this big heavy old wardrobe. It normally took about 3 strong men to move the thing. Well as they were playing with the board, they contacted some spirit who was not very nice. a sudden gust of wind went through the room and pushed this wardrobe over, on top of someone. He was killed. Please please please stay away from them, and don't mess with the world of the dead, it can be a very dangerous place, trust me.

I wouldnt mess with things like this for a laugh. There are many things that are unseen in the world. Why open the door to something. Spirits are often mischivous, some are malevolent. Dont play with it. Leave this kind of things to the professionals. (if you find one let me know. lol)
