I had the diaper genie. It was ok. The best thing that I found is getting the small scented trash bags ( I mean the small ones) and after a bad poo!!! Tie it up and leave it in the regular trash can. It never stunk up my house or anything, because of them being scented. YOU, don't have any odors. The diaper genie, would wrap it up so supposely u did not smell it, but I still did. The scented bags are awesome!!!! Well, Good Luck, With what you decide on for your trash. Hope this helps!!!

We had the Diaper Dekor and loved it! I don't remember having to buy refills very often, only once or twice. The initial purchase should include 1-2 extra bag sets and the refill box has 4, I think. Each bag set that you place into it should last awhile. We 'cut out' the bottom about once a week to put in the trash and it would last 3-4 months before having to put a new set of bags in, at least for us. And I never noticed a smell (okay, sometimes when you have it open, but never just having it sit in the room).

I had the genie but hated it.. I now just use a can with a lid and plastic bags i get from the supermarket! Saves lots of money when you don't have to pay for refills of sacs.. Just depends how you want to do it.. By the way diaper genies have to be taken out pretty often then you will just be putting it in your regular trash anyway!

ugh!!! I hated the diaper genie! I was told those things were easy! It was hard to put in together and I dont get what you do after you put the diaper in! I thought you were just supposed to twist the top! Guess not! I just throw my 15 week old diapers in the trash. I guess Im lucky hes not a real poopy baby! I just take out the trash every other day. I also live on the second story of my apartment complex! SUX!

Oh how I WISH any of these had been invented when I had my kids 18 and 19 years ago. I remember we lived in a small house with a detached garage. All day long when they were babies and I'd be changing diapers, I'd toss the wet diapers into the trash can in the house, but if they were dirty, I'd open the back door and hurl them at the garage like they were atomic waste. My poor husband would come home from work, park in the garage, open up the door to the yard and see a pile of scattered stinky diapers that he'd have to gather up and put in the outdoor garage. But, hey, I was stuck in the house with two little babies and it seemed like the only logical choice at the time. And it served my primary purpose -- get that smell as far away from the house as possible.

I used the diaper champ since it took regular trash bags. I probably changed it every 3 days or so. I never had a problem with the smell either. It worked well.

I HAD to have the diaper genie. What a waste. I just use plastic shopping bags. I used to be able to buy these miniature bags called Sassy Sacks that had a baby powder fragrance to them too. But I cant find them anymore. If you double bag and tie it up tight dirty diapers should not be a problem. Wet ones you can either bag them or not. You will find that you will have to empty the garbage probably at least every other day anyways!

I used the genie when I had my little girl. It was nice to have something right there but as Katie got older I found out it was just easier to purchase small trashbags and hang them on the changing table. The genie took far to much time and effort to change the refills and empty. I just gave up. The small trashbags I use hold about 6 diapers with room and I empty it every day when it needs it. It takes no time and no effort. : )
Hope this helps

I used the diaper genie, until she was about 9 months old and then I started just throwing them in the trash.
