They are separate and distinct polls. Each poll gives points out for what the voters rank you -- 25 points for 1st, 24 for 2nd, all the way down to 1 point for a 25th place vote. They then tally all the points and rank the teams in the country from 1 to 25 and also show you who received some votes, but did not finish in the top 25.

They aren't against each other. They are seperate polls. The AP (a.k.a. the coaches poll) Is voted on by the coaches as to who they think is the top 25 teams. The ESPN/Usa Today poll is a bunch of idiots who pick the teams they like the most as there top 25. Then there are like 25 other computer polls that make up the BCS (Bull Crap System) to chose who plays for the title.

No, no, no drockfreak has it all wrong....

The espn/usa today COACHES poll is made up of COACHES...not idiots.

The AP poll is voted on by sportswriters.
