I don't understand why anyone would run to protect themselves. from what?? One of the most gentle creatures on the planet. I have seen quite a few manatees in my lifetime. I enjoy watching them swim while I can. I've never had a camera handy when I did see them but if I could, I would take pics.

I took a picture. Manatees are fairly gentle creatures and though they may seem so big as to be a threat, they are vegaterians. They are also known as sea cows and were once thought to be mermaids.

I have seen a lot of them ! I have even had one swim right up to me on a jet ski ! They are so gentle you can feel it. I think they are cute in a ugly sort of way !

If I saw a manateet I would take a picture and sell it to Playmanatee.
