Money doesn't matter, look at history, its the BEST TEAM that wins. The Yankees are not a team.
Jeter hates A-rod, he won't defend a two-time MVP winner, but defends a basically admitted Steriod user. No one shows up their for the team and to have fun, its all about winning. You do not win in that environment.
No one plays for each other.
Look at the Cardinals this year, every wrote them off, but they banded together, under a quality manager, and fought in every game, and played as a team, played together, worked together, had fun, and WON.
Look at the Red Sox in 2004, White Sox 2005.
Old cliche "A Champion team will always beat a team of Champions"
The best team will win, not the team with the best players or the most expensive payroll.

Like most people you assume it's about money. It's not. It's about talent and chemistry.
Some talented players are not greedy, and some really greedy players are not really talented. Until you understand that spending does not equal success (like Big Government is better because it's big) you will just be a pawn in the game.
It's about good chemistry between players, a desire to downplay one's ability, being a team player and a good sport (unlike A-Rod who tried to affect the Boston playoffs by an unsportsmanlike act).
Besides, you act like it's your due as a Yankee fan (and maybe a New Yorker) for the Yankees to win. What nerve! I personally think your payroll is obscene and should be regulated with a total cap per team, so that if Bernie gets 15 mil a year, he's the ONLY outfielder (and yes, as a Giants fan I think the same should apply to Bonds).
I have sympathy for Atlanta now that their era is gone. Why? Because they are true fans just like in St. Louis. But I have no sympathy for the Yankees because they're spoiled.

The Yankee bashers will never understand how much LUCK there is in getting to the WS. Spending huge amounts of $ does NOT guarantee the team will go to the World Series. But it almost guarantees the team will be competetive. The spending will only become unacceptable if the team falls out of the pennant race early. Steinbrenner is only doing what Yankee fans demand. BE COMPETETIVE. I, for one, say George is doing a GREAT job.
There is nothing worse than watching your team fall out of the race before the All-Star break. You Cubs, Royals, Orioles, Brewers, etc. fans know what I'm talking about.

it is not all about star power. Yes with the lineup they have they should make it to the WS. The pitching is dreadful however. I know every1 thinks MO is the best closer of all time but im a red sox fan. Randy and Mike are both over 35 i belive and the pitching is horrible. It is proven that you need pitching, look at STL. Carpenter did great, suppan was clutch and reyes was decent. It comes down to a balanced team to win, not a stacked team on one side.

Too many egos on one team, and the fact that they don't have a great farm system. The Yankees' owner Steinbrenner is a man who wants to win every year, but can't except the fact that he has to work towards it by making his players not buying them. He loaded his team with a whole bunch of players that were only looking for their own fame as a Yankee and not looking for players that were role players and could do certain jobs.

The reason they are not going anywhere is not money, it is personnel decisions. Instead of developing more pitchers like Wang, they go out and overpay on flashes in the pan pitchers like Jaret Wright (not even with the team anymore) and Carl Pavano (better known for having dated Alyssa Milano). Randy Johnson is on the downside of his career, and so is Mike Mussina. What they need to do is to develop pitchers, even if it means a couple of average years (i.e. no playoffs). The best players they have had in their latest success run, have been from their minor league system (Jeter, Rivera, Bernie Williams). Also, find more role players (i.e. Melky Cabrera), and less star-type players (i.e. A-Rod).

Yes they should. But Cashman, Torre, Steinbrenner & his goons have set the Yankees back. The finances in baseball are changing, and younger players are a key to success as many potential free agents are signing extensions before hitting the market. So their is less quality available in the FA market - thus, the huge contracts given to hitters so far this offseason. The only way the Yankees can drastically improve is through trades, but their farm system is horrible. I like cheese.

They aren't going anywhere because George is building them a new 800 million dollar stadium, across the street from the old delapidated one that they currently play in, that's why

Because of bad investments. Randy, Pavano, Wright and company are a bunch por losers that are just milking the cow. Unless George learns that a good team is the one with good pitching, young pitching, our beloved team is going nowhere.

Money cannot buy a Championship unlike what most people think in here. You can buy the best players available but YOU STILL HAVE TO PLAY THE GAMES. 'Nuff said.
