If you have a spare PCI slot inside your pc then you can fit an Ethernet Card. The card will provide a socket for a cable (RJ45) to connect directly to the router. There you go. Depending on what you want to do, you don't need to pay the earth for an Ethernet card. I fly flight Sims on line via a broadband connection and only paid around £15 for my card. No offence to EBay but I would use a local PC shop for advice. PC World have a PC builders section where you can by good hardware a lot cheaper as it doesn't come in a fancy box, just plain brown cardboard and the Instructions are usually on the disk not a glossy manual
.Please follow the install instructions for the chosen card. Some require the card to be installed before the driver disk, a few need the drivers loaded first. Install the card, connect to the router and start the PC. All should fall into place and away you go.

I've never heard of a router needing two plugs from one computer, but I'll take your word.
Yes, you can install a PCI ethernet card which will solve the lack of a socket. Alternatively you can buy an ethernet to USB adapter, but try to get one that supports USB2, or it'll be too slow for most things you'll wanna do over the network.

The easiest solution would be to get an Ethernet card. That will drop right into your computer and won't rob your USB ports. Ethernet cards are pretty cheap.

The "port absolutely sufficiently massive for telephone" isn't a community port. that's a RJ11 port and is designed to absolutely be linked to a telephone line. that's an analog modem designed for employing a accepted telephone line to "dial-up" to the internet or different community/computing gadget/fax gadget. to attach with an "ethernet" community (which makes use of an ethernet cable with a RJ45 jack) you want a community Interface Card (or NIC). those are on hand, dirt low-priced, almost everywhere.

Why would you use USB? Install an ethernet card and hook it straight to the router. BTW, there is only one "size" ethernet cable
