I started getting regular (yearly) exams after I became sexually active.
Today's gynecology standards say that you should start receiving annual pap smears by the time you turn 18 or as soon as you become sexually active.
However, if you're having any sort of feminine problems (itching, irritation, bad odor, severe pain, etc), you should see your doctor sooner.

i got my period when i was 10 years old but i was told not to worry about it unless i became sexually active but i still waited until my senior year of high school i was 16 or 17

3 yrs. It's not an illness....if everything is ok otherwise, meaning your gut feels like it's going to pop and you want to stay in bed all day, there is nothing to see a doctor about.

i started my period last year and i havent gone. i think you're supposed to go after you have you know what. hope this helps. if you have a problem, you need to go earlier
