A friend of mine is about to launch a new website that's gonna be fantabulous. Problem is, he works full-time at a job he hates which is taking up alot of free time that could be spent working on his website. So, other than the lifestyle change (being frugal), and the fact that he is a VITAL asset to this company, can you think of any other reasons why he should stay at this job?

okay, the research is done. One of the top 10 venture capitalists companies is throwing money at him. He needs to finish the site. Shouldn't he quit his job? The market research is done. There is GREAT opportunity here. Again, shouldn't he quit his job?

Yes, security. If the web site takes off and he makes money, then is the time to quit. If he quits prematurely, not only does he risk financial trouble, but the stress of making ends meet and worrying about the website doing well will take all the fun out of it, and make him less creative and useful in working on the site. My vote is wait.

As far as it not being about money - playing devil's advocate here, one reason he may not want to quit is that he has loyalty to the company he works for and their product, especially since you say he is important to them. Down the road with investors and partners, that kind of dedication, trustworthiness and conscientiousness would be big selling points.

No, he shouldn't quit his job. Just having a website is not the whole picture. I had a on-line business and it takes alot of money and time to get the site out there. It took a year and a half to start getting anything coming back in. It was a 'fantabulous' site too. I did well at it for 5 years. Then I sold it. He needs to do his research before he makes drastic changes to his income. With millions of websites out there, what is going to bring people to his site over another one. He needs to get to the top of search engines and advertise, advertise, advertise.
Wish him luck though!

You feel no different than you do when you wake up in the morning. There is no withdrawls, what are you going to use to relax ? only marijuana can increase neurogenesis. every other drug including alcohol and nicotine decreases neurogenesis I know you wont listen but go get a stationary exercise bicycle and ride it everyday for 15 minutes. every week you will have ridden 1:45 minutes on a bike with your heart pumping hard, You know any fat bike riders that ride 1:45 minutes a week?

Unless he has lots of money to not work for a year, or is a good enough guy to get a job quickly, the NEW website may or may not pan out. Keep the job and work nights and weekend on the website until it can pay the bills.

People shouldn't quit their jobs, especially in the United States. Have you seen the unemployment rates? And not to mention if he has health benefits...

He should suck it up, stay at his job until his website really takes off.
