I posted this question and the previous one in this group... since soooo many asked... because I am gay as is the guy who is in question. I did not know off the top that he was like this. He was already an aquaintance and I can't tell th police because there is no proof that he did anything yet. Should I try to talk him into getting help? Ditching him all together seems... really harsh. He is human even though he thinks about bad things.

Simply telling a pedophile to get help would be great, if there were actually such help available. Unfortunately, the only help that he would get would be putting him on some Sexual Offender's List, thus pretty-much ruining his life, even if it turns out that he posed no actual threat. The fact that he may have some thoughts or fantasies involving children does NOT necessarily mean that he will inevitably act on those thoughts.

I think your ability to see him as human is commendable. Since you have no proof that he has ever done anything, then I don't think you should go to the police. On the other hand, if you have reason to suspect that he IS acting on, or HAS acted on these feelings, then I think you should notify authorities...but that doesn't mean that you have to ditch him all together, because if you notify the authorities, you might be the only friend he has left, and he'll need the support.

Since you know what he wants to do, and that if he hasn't done it yet, he inevitably will, I'd say you have a duty to do something about this. You need to ask him more directly what he has done so far to attempt to satisfy these desires, OR to resist attempting to satisfy them. This needs to be asked in the context of convincing him he needs help, why he needs it, and the type of help he should seek.
And if he tells you he has done these things, he has passed the point of no return as far as most professionals working in this field are concerned. You will need to see if you can document his admissions and either report him, or tell him he needs to commit himself to some sort of remedial program - of which there are damned few, unfortunately.
You now bear some responsibility for what this person does in the future, whether you like it or not.

If he is into pedophilia, I have the perfect cure, but the courts will not allow it.

He should get into intense therapy right away before the police and courts force it upon him along with jail time. As far as the police proving it, very easy to do. If you are with him, you can be considered as an accessory.

IF THIS PERSON IS GOING AFTER CHILDREN -INDIUVIDUALS BELOW THE AGE OF CONSENT,THEN YOU MUST MAKE THE CALL TO YOUR LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS CHILD PROTECTION DIVISION.
If however he merely talks about thinks about them you may want him to get therapy, since it's not like there is a thought police YET.
If on the other hand they are young yet are of the age of Consent and are indeed consentual theres no crime except in some peoples mind.

The recidivism fee (people who molest back after "paying their debt to society") is quite extreme in pedophiles. it variety of feels they are able to't study to no longer molest infants. Having been a sufferer of a pedophile stepfather for some years (5-13) i will purely say that i'm happy i exchange into no longer in can charge of his punishment. There are some days whilst i'd say that slow painful torture would be too solid for him and others whilst i'd say...i don't understand what i'd say. He died very nearly 2 an prolonged time in the past. i understand he enjoyed me in his own twisted way and that i desire that his punishment would be just to inspect my existence and notice how plenty harm he did to me and my husband whom he in no way even met. I even have positioned the entire rely in the back of me now, even though it exchange right into an prolonged, no longer common highway. in spite of each and every thing those years, i will ultimately say I even have forgiven him and it particularly is barely a non-difficulty in my techniques now. a minimum of, convicted pedophiles could serve penal complex time and in no way be allowed unsupervised visits with ANY baby EVER back. If my step-father have been alive now, i'd confirm he in no way even MET my infants.

You're a little hard to understand but it sounds like you are friends with someone who is or may be harming children.

Why on earth have you not called the police AND forced him into counseling.

Being gay is not the same as being a pedophile. If he a boyfriend, that's between them and nobody else's business. If he going after children, do whatever it takes to stop him.

If he has done anything wrong, get him to go turn himself to the police or to get professional help before he does get caught by the wrong people.

Ditching him altogether may seem harsh but if I was in your shoes it's what I'd do for sure.

Pedophiles can't be cured.
Get away from him and report what you know to the police.
