Seems like they have to put on robes and slippers before they can get a drink of water, check on their sleeping kids or even drink coffee in the morning. It seemed rampant in old black and white films...even heels on the women's slippers. Do you wear either around the house?

In old black and white films it was largely done to preserve the "purity" of the characters - much like in television series if the bed of a married couple was shown, it was twin beds on opposite sides of the room LOL!

I know my grandmother always put on robes and slippers. I like robes, though, but really only to snuggle into after a shower.

that's the way it used to be in previous years of the now older generations. today there are still some who wear robes. i do and so do most of the girls in my dorm...mainly though when we're going to take a shower. i don't wear slippers but i used to when i was younger. and when i was younger i would always wear my grandmother's slippers around the house. i think the styles of robes and slippers have just changed over the years but they're still present.

I wear slippers every morning because I have hardwood floors and they are pretty darn cold in the morning. I keep my robe on the back of my bathroom door...If I get out of the shower and have to run to answer the phone or something I throw my robe on...it's not part of my daily wardrobe.

hmmm.... good question.

I don't own a robe, and since I'm single with no kids I don't need to really worry about covering anything up when I get out of bed. Usually I just wander around the house in boxers, maybe put on some socks if the floor is cold, but thats it.

I don't wear slippers with heels, but I do wear slippers around the house, and I do wear a bathrobe in winter time to help stay warm.

I have a huge soft warm robe that I wrap myself in whenever I'm in my jammies, but not in bed. But there are no heels on my slippers, which are also big soft and warm! LOL

I have a terrycloth bath robe that I wear to and from the shower. It was a habit I got into in college when I lived in the dorms.
