I just love reading about crime, criminals, corrections, law enforcement, etc. Are there any good books you would recommend? I have a degree in Criminology, so I don't need any basics books, but I would love some more advanced books!

True crime is my favorite genre, and I can recommend several authors whose books are ALL worth reading, if you haven't yet:

Ann Rule, Jack Olsen, Aphrodite Jones, Clifford Linedecker and Gregg Olsen (I don't like him as much) have all written many true crime books and are available at any book store. I also love the books of John Douglas (an FBI profiler) and Carlton Smith. I have bought many paperback lots (and sold many) on eBay, so check there.

Good luck!

I would recommend a very old book called Psychopathia Sexualis by Richard Von Krafft Ebing. It's full of case studies of serial killers and lust murderers and was one of the first psychological texts to look into that phenomenon in depth. Another book that might be terribly interesting is the autobiography of Carl Panzram, I believe both of these can be found at Amazon.com. Panzram was an enigmatic killer who was first arrested at 8 years old for public drunkenness, and taught himself to read and write. I believe his autobiography was written while on death row for killing a prison guard.

I don't know if you're writing from US or Canada(the reason I say this is the author I will suggest is Canadian but you should be able to get it)

Any books by Max Haines-check Amazon. He writes about great true crime with a little bit of wit and occasionally humor. Check him out.

"The Anatomy of Motive by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker, easily one of the best written criminology books for the layperson I've ever read. I highly recommend any of their books, IMNSHO, "Anyone You Want Me to Be" is their best.

Read Helter-Skelter, about Good old Charlie Manson and his escapades. Charles Manson is nuts and he will never be let out of prison. Good book though.
