I collected a sample of pee (yuk) in a cup this morn to do a pregnancy test but had to go out and buy one so the sample sat for around 3 hrs before I used it. The test was negative (which is what I want) but is there a chance that because I left the sample for so long before using the test that it could be wrong? I just want to be certain. Thanks

Meant to say that my period is 3 days late and there was an incident of unprotected sex with my husband.

You can use a sample for up to 4 hours without it spoiling from not being in the fridge. If you want to be certain then get another test but do it mid stream not in a cup and don't leave it.

Ideally you should use fresh urine. You don't really need an early morning sample these days, better fresh stuff from later in the day than one that's been sitting around.

If your period doesn't turn up in a couple of days, get another test - the kind where you pee on a stick are generally good.

you should have used a fresh sample. I would recommend getting another and testing it as it flows not in a cup... and definately not after the cup has been sitting.... good luck.

Next time you have an incident you may want to get a morning after pill- they are free and can be taken up to 72 hours after ejaculation... then you dont have to worry.

The test should be correct but if you still havent gotten your period in 3 to 5 days take another test to be sure. If it is still neg, call your doctor and make an appointment to discuss the situation. Good luck

With it setting for that long, yeah, there is a chance the test it wrong. I would go buy one tonight and take a test (the correct way lol) in the morning to be sure. Good Luck!

Sounds like the unprotected sex incident and you not wanting to be pregnant could be worrying u and delaying your period. Take another tomorrow, something like a clear blue digital is accurate, simple display of pregnant or not pregnant and taken any time of the day. Hope result is what you want:)

should still give a correct reading. If you are still in doubt try another test or see your GP. Try not to leave you wee around next time. Good job hubby did not think it was apple juice!! YUK!!

probably best to re-test, most tests can pick up the hormone as early as four days before the missed period, so there's no need to wait a week.
