I don't think anyone should get any memorial day except for Jesus Christ. I love John Lennon and the Beatles are my favorite band in the world. However, John was trying to spread world peace. If you really want to honor his memory, try doing something that brings the world together in harmony. Thank you and have a great day.

The public did for a few yrs. Since he was no political figure, I doubt special recognition can be paid to him. Hold your own private memorial or gather some friends together on December 8th, if it matters to you.

A lot of people do a vigil at his grave and at Strawberry Fields in Central Park on Dec. 8, but if we memorialized every celebrity who was a legend we'd have a holiday every day of the year. He contributed a lot to music, and arguably popular music today wouldn't be the same had he not existed, but I don't think there should be a holiday memorializing a rock star unless they did something extraordinary.

Yoko Ono just put a full page add in a paper somewhere saying she wanted that day to be a day of healing.

Ooh, good idea. I'd just be afraid that it would turn into Yoko Ono day since she has her hands in everything.
