Apathy means a lack of caring, boredom, disinterest.
Empathy means compassion, symathy, caring for another by actually feeling their feelings. To empathize is to take on the feelings of another, to coexperience their suffering.

There is actually quite a difference between apathy and empathy.

Apathy is usually defined as an absence of emotion, feeling, or interest for something that others deem important.

Empathy is a genuine understanding of another's feelings.

Perhaps you meant the difference between sympathy and empathy? Where sympathy is a sharing of feelings. For example, you feel sympathetic towards someone who might be going through a rough time, you share their feelings of sorrow. But to feel empathy, you must have an understanding of what those feelings are like. "You don't need to explain, I understand."

Hope that helped

Apathy is when you don't care about something, like the way most people are apathetic about the homeless when they pass by. Apathy demonstrates that one is self-absorbed, and that they don't see beyond their own perspective.

Empathy is the singlemost attractive human quality. It is the ability to imagine that you are in someone else's shoes for a moment, and accept or care about their experiences. You see beyone your own perspective. It helps you to understand and relate to other people. Empathy demonstrates sincerity.

two completely different words..

apathy is not caring, think of eyore on winnie the pooh. If you are apathetic, it means you just don't give a damn.

empathy is when you can relate to someones pain and feel sorry for them because you know how they feel, you've been there, similar to sympathy, but sympathy is feeling sorry for someone even if you don't relate to there problem or pain.

apathy is lack of caring.

empathy means that you feel feelings toward a situation that you have been in yourself.

The antonym of "empathy" is sympathy. Sympathy is feeling sorry for someone who is in a situation that you have never been in.
