it differentiate between African American girls, Chocalate fe's represent dark skin girls, and redbones represent light skin african american girls. and in the song he also states caramel, which is the brown skin african american girls. African Americans have different shades of color, dark, light brown or brown, or very light skin. and he just associate the colors with creative things such as chocalate, caramel, and redbones.

I'm not sure about the chocolate thing. But redbones is a term used for light skinned people who look a little native american.
