One of the reasons that states have to spend a good part of their budgets on education is because the Federal Government keeps passing unfunded mandates. No child left behind, but the states have to pay for the program. This is often the case; the Federal Government makes laws demanding certain actions but does not provide the funding. This is one reason why property taxes continue to rise.

Our government reasons for us to vote we need to be educated. The people are in power, so we must be an informed people. Let us also not forget the wealth the country enjoys when it has a educated government. The reason United States economically took off after WWII was so many soldiers used their G.I. Bill and received a college education.

Education is necessary nowdays to get a good job. Good jobs equal big paychecks. Big paychecks equal big taxes. Thus the government is supported by those who work, the more educated the person, the more they make, the more the government gets.
