It really grinds my gears when someone tells me they listen to punk, and proceed to tell me they like Good Charolette and Ashley Simpson. That is NOT punk. I KNOW there are people who know better than that. For the REAL old school punk fans...who do you like?

I like the ramones and the (early) clash.
I also like alot of proto-punk: Jonathan richman, the dictators, etc.
and post punk: television, the B-52's

The early Damned, Sex Pistols, Xray Specs, Sham 69, DOA, Stiff Little Fingers, Dead Kennedys among others who were political and social in their causes. I hate these suburban wanna bees with their mall rat idea of what punk is. They are so shallow and unpolitical that's for sure.

I know what you mean w/ the people who say they listen to "Punk" then proceed to say it's Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance. Those bands are so lame and nowhere close to Punk. That's what MTV does to people...

cock sparrer, the ramones, the adicts, dead boys, sex pistols, the clash, sham 69, the uk subs, x-ray spex, the misfits, crass, black flag, the angry samoans (i love their name...), bad brains, husker du, dead kennedys, doa, vice squad, cockney rejects, tsol, social distortion, circle jerks, bad religion, minor threat...
i could probably go on forever, but i think you get the picture. i'm sure i missed some too, those were just off the top of my head... a pretty good list, i'd have to say...

punk is a subculture genre and it the music orignated around 1976 in England and that were the style orignated from. it was model after the S&M style that why you se the chains and the leather on most punks
