I think it's a good idea for childrens eyes be opened to the wonderfull animals that this world has to offer. We spend so much time keeping our children so "safe" and clean from everything it's not a suprise kids get sick alot easier these days. I was brought up with all kinds of animals on a farm and we had reptiles etc. It did me no harm and all of the animals kept me busy so I didn't get into trouble or mix in bad crouds, and because I knew what responsibility was at a young age I was alot more balanced than alot of my friends.
I think that if the people at the nusery were aware of alergies or of any animals biting then they would act according to there policies and have good health and saftey precautions in place. As with the leaving the animals there all night and weekend I'm pretty sure someone goes in to feed and clean them out if not they need to buck their ideas up!

I'm not sure what the difference is between them spending the night at the nursery, and the night at you home. Most rabbits would probably prefer the nursery since it's kept dark at night and they are in fact nocturnal. As long as they're with other animals, they aren't really "alone." As far as biting, certain animals probably shouldn't be used as nursery pets. A rabbit can bite, usually when not handled correctly, an the bite itself is rarely severe. Today's society overprotects children too much; we're raising a nation of wimps, and it's disgusting.

i dont think they should have tarantuals, snakes rats and stuff like that. these are generally animals that can hurt a child the most with venom and diseases. it does depend however on the cats and the dogs if they are used to kids and trained not to bit or growl or anything like that when little kids pull on them. but it is a large liability for the nursey. and dont worry about them being at the nursery over the weekend. the workers there more than likely come in and feed and play with them or they take turns taking care of them over the weekend.

While I think it's a great idea to have childred exposed to animal I don't think this is the environment to do it. Not so much because the childred can be bitten but because the animals are often kept in less than ideal situations. I'd much rather see children have a show and tell pet day, where the parents drop in with the family pet for an hour.

I actually think its a good idea to expose children to animals even at a young age.It teaches the child to respect animals, yes, even the not so cute and cuddley types ie:snakes and spiders.
I have two sankes,a leopard gecko(a lizard),2 guinea pigs and a rabbit and my 3 year old boy loves them all.
As long as the children are supervised and the animals are looked after correctly(ask if someone goes in at a weekend) I personally wouldn't have a problem with it.I find that children who aren't exposed to the more exotic animals tend to be nervous of them when they do come into contact with them and take that fear into adulthood. Why not volunteer to take care of one at a home over a weekend or ask to go in over the weekend to check the animals. That way you may become a little less nervous of them yourself.

Dogs and cats would prefer not to be left all weekend; if there's no on at all in the building that might be illegal (depending on where you live).
But insects and snakes won't mind.
As long as there is a knowledgeable adult who is responsible for them, their care and welfare then the kids will benefit.
Just get the RSPCA to inspect if you're concerned.

this is a hard 1 to answer as im for both. I think pets like snakes and spiers would be good as you can bring them uo to know the real side of them, most ppl on here dont know the real spider or snakes. i disagree with it as it will take alot to stop any animal getting angry and biting if children mis handle it AND I KNOW they dont know better.
Bring in spiders and snakes and teach them that they are harmless and they only attack when threatend

What is a childrens nursery? Is that like a daycare?
Why not move your kid to another place if you don't like this one?
I see nothing wrong with non-dangerous animals as long as they're in a secure cage. It could be very educational if presented properly.
