I am trying to clean out my house and get rid of all the useless junk I inherited from my parents that I never use and also, the stuff I've accumulated over the years. My new motto is: less is more. Friends ask me what I want for Christmas and I tell them I don't need anything and to please not buy me anything. I buy whatever I want or need myself. I have gift cards I've never even used (I don't like to shop). I told one friend to donate the money to a charity in my name but they insisted they had to get me a gift. I told them to buy me things I hate to buy myself like soap, kleenex, paper towels and toilet paper. They got insulted and said they could not give gifts like that. What should I tell them when they insist they have to buy me something? And please don't say something like a trip or a car (I don't like to travel and I have two cars now).
