IMO there is nothing better than breast milk for your baby. Whether that is breast FEEDING or pumping and BOTTLE FEEDING I don't think there is a huge difference, so long as it is breast milk. My wife only pumps and bottle feeds our baby and she chose that b/c it's faster and waaaay more convenient than breast feeding. She has a special bra that holds the funnels to her breasts so she can pump both at one time, hands-free. She usually feeds the baby a bottle at the same time and the entire process is completed in 10-12 minutes (versus 30-45 for breast-fed babies). When feeding a baby every 3-5 hours that extra 20-30 minutes at every feed - plus the freedom of having others who can feed the baby with her expressed milk - is worth more than can be imagined for a new mom.

breast feeding is the BEST food you can give your child from birth and through the first year. the world health organization recommends that all mothers breast feed their babies for the first full year and for as long as the mother and baby want there after. they recommend pumping the milk and feeding it in the bottle as a second choice. the third choice is giving donor breast milk to newborns if the baby's own mother cannot breast feed. the forth choice is to give formula.
breast feeding if done correctly does NOT hurt. it feels odd at first but if the baby is latched on correctly it does not hurt. it actually feels good. it causes hormones to be released that increase the bonding of the mother and the baby.
i am not sure what breast milk tastes like, but, it smells way better than formula!! and, the baby's poops don't smell as bad either.
there are no cons to breastfeeding....
breast feeding does not cause the breasts to sag--genetics and weight gain cause breast tissue to sag.
breast feeding is not time consuming...washing bottles, driving to the store to buy formula, and mixing formula is.

Breast feeding is great for your child. The first milk is called Cholostrum. It looks kind of yellowish. It is filled with nutrients and immunities that a mother can pass on to her child to help fight infections. It has been scientificly proven that it makes your child smarter. Your child will be less likely to be overweight later in life because you cannot measure how much they eat from a breast, they stop when they are full. With a bottle- once they start eating so much you will expect them to eat the same every time and may start trying to "force feed" them. Also... you never have to wait for a bottle to warm... and never have to worry about forgetting one when you go out.

Also... The mom will lose weight faster by breast feeding.

Breastfeeding doesn't hurt the mother. For grown ups, it is not a delicious drink.
Pros- Babies bond more with their mom when they are breastfed. Breastmilk is the best formula for babies if the mother nourishes herself properly.

Cons- Breastfeeding has to be done throughout the day or the milk supply decreases. It interrupts the mother's sleep, and can be very inconvenient.

Breastfeeding is a very rewarding thing. Nothing is easy about it, but the proven benefits for your child are endless. I suggest giving it a try no matter what. Your child's immune system will thank you... It tastes very much like sweet cantaloupe juice, just a little thicker. It however is very beneficial for the baby!!
