I'm lookin to by a Silver coloured bangle for my girlfriend for xmas but it says it's base metal. What exactly is it? I don't want to get her anything that turns green or the colour fades

Only buy if it is 925 sterling silver, anything else will probably be plated and the plate will rub off and make her go green. Silver will tarnish but it is easily cleaned with a silver polishing cloth - you can buy these for about a quid from all good jewellers.

A base Metal will tarnish, but not fade, A base metal is Gold, Silver or platinum./
