piranhas gain weight quicker if they are without food for about a week then are given food on a regular basis the week of fasting causes the fish's metaboism to slow down and they will process food when recieved into fat. This however is not healthy for the fish and can cause diseases or complications. Time and food are the best suggestions for allowing your fish to grow healthy

The trick is to feed GOOD, quality food. That will make them grow big and strong ;) If you just feed a lot of fatty food, all you'll do is make them obese, shortening their lifespan and actually inhibiting them from gaining real size.

Feed them well-fed feeder fish, earthworms. How old are your piranhas? If they are still young, feed them blood worms and mysis shrimp. As they get bigger, the feeder fish, earthworms, and large shrimp, as well as prepared canned food, beef heart, etc. Lots of choices!

As far as feeder fish go, I suggest you set yourself up to breed your own fish. Mollies are great, and very prolific. That way you can ensure that you don't feed the crappy fish they sell at petstores - which are improperly cared for and full of parasites and diseases that you don't want your piranha to injest.

Don't forget to keep up with veggies, and piranhas are omnivorous.

Anyway, feed a wide variety, feed two meals per day, feed QUALITY food, and above all keep your tank clean and big, and they will grow in no time.

i dont think you want to make them fat... all the food that you might feed it will cause it's intestines to burst and you will had a dead fish....

when you put feeders in, slice them with a knife- dont kill it, just injure it. it will encourage them to eat quicker with blood in the water.

Dont overfeed them. That will kill them. I heard that live feeder guppies with most fish make them grow more. But since thats a pirhanna idk.
