I had good results from using 100% cocoa butter on them twice a day. I also think that the product "Scar Zone" is pretty effective. They both worked wonders for me and reduced the redness to a faint, almost skin toned pink.
Unfortunately, you'll never get rid of them entirely. You can just reduce their appearance.

Stretch marks are scar tissue. You cannot get rid of scar tissue except by cutting it out and leaving another scar, sometimes larger.
However, as other posters noted, cocoa butter and sun exposure will both help. Don't over-expose yourself to the sun but be aware that wearing a sunblock eliminates all benefit from sun exposure. Don't stay in the sun long enough to get tanned or even pink.
You might also want to try taking Vitamin E capsules orally in moderation and also cutting them open and rubbing them on the stretch marks. This worked to heal my son's scars from surgery.
Good luck! I am very prone to stretch marks and have had them since I was 13 and 93 pounds. I've just learned to live with them. My mother, who has been pregnant 3 times and is overweight doesn't have a single mark at all! grrrr!

Whether or not you get stretch marks is determined mostly by heredity, and getting rid of them isn't easy. In fact, experts aren't even sure it's completely possible. The first thing to know is that no over-the-counter cream or lotion can remove those lines. Stretch marks occur in the middle layer of the skin, called the dermis, and common creams can't reach that far deep. Vitamin E and cocoa butter treatments can make your skin feel soft and supple, but they won't make your skin mark-free. You'll need to talk to a doctor, dermatologist, or plastic surgeon if you want to seriously reduce the lines.

Is there a way to get rid of stretch marks completely? The best course of action is to avoid getting them in the first place, if possible. Stretch marks are caused by extreme stretching of the skin, which keeps the skin from returning to its original condition. This extreme stretching is commonly the result of gaining large amounts of weight in a short period of time. Bodybuilders, pregnant women, and adolescents that have been through rapid growth spurts, often develop stretch marks.
Stretch marks are deep scars, or scar tissue, that appears as stripes on the skin. They are commonly found on the stomach, legs, buttocks, and breasts, but may appear nearly anywhere. Extreme stretching of the skin causes tiny skin fibers to tear. There is no known remedy to repair these fibers, though there are many products and treatments available that can help lighten stretch marks and improve the look of the skin.
Depending on the severity and location of the scar tissue, exfoliation may be helpful. Removing layers of dead skin and unveiling soft, fresh skin can help minimize the appearance of stretch marks. You can use oatmeal or baking soda to make your own preparations, or choose from the many scented, specially prepared formulas available. Be sure to apply plenty of moisturizer to keep the skin soft and hydrated after exfoliation.
Different types of creams and lotions promise to improve the texture of the skin and make stretch marks less noticeable. Many will provide some relief, but certain preparations are meant for use only on newer scars. Using these preparations on severe stretch marks, or those more than a year old, may not show marked improvement. Read the labels carefully to determine which products are best for you.
For severe stretch marks, skin peels or laser treatments may be necessary. They can be somewhat expensive, and they can cause minor to moderate pain. These methods cannot actually repair torn fibers in the skin, but they are reported to dramatically improve the appearance of stretch marks for many people.
Currently there is no way to actually repair damaged skin fibers, so one alternative to get rid of stretch marks is to remove them. This requires cosmetic surgery. During surgery, the skin is cut away; though in some instances, doctors cannot remove all of the damage. An added benefit of cosmetic surgery is the ability to pull the remaining skin taut. This will also improve the appearance of stretch marks.
Even though it is difficult to remove or repair stretch marks, you can make a drastic improvement in their appearance using one or more of the listed products or treatments. It may be helpful to discuss the different options with your healthcare provider.

Okay, don't listen to the girl that said "get fat". The cocoa butter is a good idea, but there are also vitamins you can take to improve the quality of your skin, hense increasing the chances of a bounce back. Vitamins like A and C are good. Or a Fish Oil supplement. Hope it helps!

Its difficult. There are many lotions and potions on the market claiming to help get rid of stretch marks. Some people say that its the massaging action that helps them to fade more than the particular ingredients in the product, so buy one that you can afford and like the smell and texture of, and get massaging!! Good luck!

Try Palmer's Cocoa Butter Stretch Mark lotion available at Wal-Mart. It's the one with the pregnant lady on it.
Tanning also minimizes stretch marks.

Vitamin e oil is a good start but seriously the only thing that worked for me (tried it all, spent a ton of $),,,,the sun. Exposing them to the sun is for some reason the cure for me. I had a bunch of em and it really really helped, I know some people out there are cringing because the sun has gotten such a bad reputation but it also has it's benefits....good luck.
