It is called Lucid Dreaming, and people say they can manipulate their dreams to go the way they wan to, so they maybe able to fly, meet whoever they want, do what they want basically.

I've personally not experience this.

I have had this happen. It is called lucid dreaming. I dream of tornadoes a lot. I have all of my life. Its gotten to the point that when I see a tornado in my dream I realize I am dreaming. I have decided in my dreams that I don't want to dream about tornadoes and have turned the dream to being able to fly. Its great! There is a great movie about this concept called Waking Life. Its animated, directed by Richard Linklater. Its a bit cerebral, but the art work is amazing!

PS If I am ever really in a tornado I will be in deep trouble, because I will probably assume I am dreaming! :-)

How do you know when you are dreaming in a dream? If you have enough cognitive reason to know that you are dreaming, then wouldn't the 2nd level of dreaming be impossible....Or are you waking up from a dream and realizing that there was a "play within the play?"

Either way I believe it is a sign of "A" personality and attempting to control everything in your life, even your dreams....

Bear in mind I choose my answer based on words randomly picked out of a hat..

I have no idea what it means, but I love it when it happens to me. It gives me a chance to steer the dream in any direction I want. When I was a kid I had a recurring nightmare that persisted for years. After a couple of years, however, I began to sense I was dreaming the nightmare. From that point on I had a ball with that nightmare, twisting, and turning the nightmare until it became a joke.

I have dreams like that a lot. I never knew it was "lucid" dreaming. Thanks for giving it a name and for making feel like I'm not a freak. I never heard anyone say they dreamed like that! Feels good to know it's real!
