I know someone who was recently stationed there in the "neutral zone" - He said that still today they line up on either side of this neutral zone and yell insults at each other. Seems pretty silly to me? That war was a long time ago.

I once had a chance to talk to a Korean war vet and this is one of the stories he told me.

He was a corp man who would patrol the perimeter of a South Korean POW camp. at night they would let the north korean prisoners out but in the morning they would be waiting at the gate to get back in. They felt that the conditions in the north korean army were so horrible they would rather be P.O.W.'s than active combatants.

Also I had a roomate who was actually South Korean. Mu Young Lee told me that every male has to do a two year mandatory stint in the South Korean army. Most of thier duty consists of partroling the border of the DMZ making sure North Korea is not up to no good. Obviously these patrols were not capable of allowing them to produce nukes.
