Very simply - GREED. Go to the local shops and support them. You never know their prices could well be cheaper now.

Christmas is an opportunity. they have an obligation to make the most of that opportunity.
You will also find that in three weeks time, when consumers have forgotten these price rises, they will announce price reductions, removing the price rises of which we speak and making Christmas more affordable! What good chaps these billion dollar enterprises are!

They are taking advantage of everyone's seemingly "open wallet syndrome" for the holiday season. They're all about making the money, not providing good deals while still maintaining a nice profit.

If the demand is high then the price goes up. If the demand is low then the price goes down. Something like that, anyway that's how it works.

because people tend to buy more when its christmas.
i guess because of presents, or the fact that everyone is happier at this time of the year. these shops are greedy.
