You meet him and he is a great guy and then he tells you that he is a pedophile or a potential pedophile? Never did anything that you know of. Even if it isn't for dating... just as friends.

Wow. Most of the responses posted are not very fair. The people who responded assume that pedophiles are child molesters. Some studies have concluded that at least a quarter of all adult men may have some feelings of sexual arousal in connection with children. This does not necessarily mean that they will act on those feelings. In fact, some experts state that most child abusers are NOT pedophiles. Often, they are adults who are primarily attracted to other adults but who, for a variety of reasons, have used children to fulfill their needs.

I say you should continue be his friend. Even if he says that he is a pedophile or a potential pedophile, does not mean that he will act on those feelings. You stated that he "Never did anything that you know of". As a friend, you can encourage him to keep it that way.

I wouldn't want to associate with a sick pervert. I'd also tell the police any details he may have given me.

People like that need to be locked up and kept away from kids. You're saying he's a great guy, but if he's a pedophile or thinks about children in that way, he's not a great guy. I question your integrity if you continue to associate with him.

Tell the police, then never talk to this person again. He's trying to lure you in - he wants to know if you share his sick interests. And don't believe it for a minute - if he talks about this, he's already done it.

And why did you post this in the lesbian and gay section? Don't you know that over 96% of pedophiles are straight? And that most child abuse starts in families with close relatives?

Report this guy!

ewww! I wouldn't have anthing to do with him! Friends, dating, aquaintences, it doesn't matter! I would never have anything to do with someone who likes to touch children!

And why is this in the Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgendered section? I've heard of plenty straight pedophiles.

Take him on surprise picnics!! These outings should take place on multiple playgrounds at elementary and junior high schools around town. Carefully observe his behavior around children.
For example, details to pay attention to...

1. he prefers boys! girls! neither! both!
2. he wears baggy pants
3. he keeps his hands in his pockets
4. he likes to play Hide n Go Seek, in the jungle gym tunnel, 1 on 1

Those are definite red-flags. See ya at recess!

I'd say stay away from him. If there is proof report him to the authorities. Don't sit there & think this is ok. You know it's not.
